The Rugaz Rescue fosters, rehabilitates and re-homes abused, neglected, and abandoned dogs that are scheduled for euthanasia in our local Florida Animal Service facilities due to medical, space or time needs. Our all-volunteer organization helps all dog breeds and ages with a focus on Pit Bull and Mastiff-type dogs.
Rugaz Rescue works above and beyond to ensure the welfare of the dogs in our project. All fosters are spayed/neutered, de-wormed, immunized, microchipped, temperament evaluated and socialized, as well as treated for any necessary/known medical needs prior to placement. Fosters are kept in home settings (except in extreme circumstances) to ensure shelter dogs are acclimated to life “outside the cage”. Our all-volunteer foster/rehabilitation program works in conjunction with our “Homeless No More” plan. Oftentimes individuals look at the option of surrendering their dog due to emergencies, changes in family structure, behavior and obedience issues, or financial instability. Homeless No More equips families with unruly dogs with the proper skills and training to work with their dogs and encourage a stronger bond between owner and dog in the hopes of keeping them together forever. We continually seek ways to educate and promote responsible dog and Pit Bull type dog ownership to the public.
